The Impact of the Pandemic on the Working Poor

There has been a significant decline in the proportion of employed persons living in poverty globally since 2000. However, progress has halted since the pandemic according to the International Labour Organization.

In 2020 the working poverty rate increased for the first time since 2000 from 6.7% to 7.2%, and in 2021 it was higher than the pre-pandemic level.
