An African Green Deal Could Spur the Creation of Millions of New Energy Sector Jobs by 2030

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) the energy transition under IRENA’s 1.5°C Scenario pathway could lead to a total of 20 million energy sector jobs in Africa by 2030 and 23 million by 2050. This is over 5 million more jobs than in Planned Energy Scenario based on the status quo. The figure shows the forecasted potential number of jobs, in millions, by sector in the 1.5°C Scenario.
